Here is a short clip where I give a brief introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It can be helpful in various situations like Anxiety, Depression, Stress etc. Below is a little bit more info that I hope you will find useful.
I would describe CBT as a structured, time bound therapy which equips a person with strategies to deal with certain default negative thinking andunhelpful behaviour patterns. By doing so, they experience a positive shift in their feelings. It is an active process that requires a person to engage in tasks between sessions to bring about this change.
CBT is very effective for any one suffering from anxiety disorders and depression. Some of the common anxiety disorders are Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, Phobias, Body Dismorphic Disorder to name some.
The therapy process starts with an assessement session. Following that depending on the severity a set of sessions are scheduled, normally on a once-a-week basis. The number of sessions are based on the NICE guidelines. Every session the progresses in assessed.
